10/26 - ~2 hours total
- Did troubleshooting for Unreal packaging, since we couldn't package our 50% build. Ideas as for what was causing the issue ranged from required Windows SDKs and .NET packages, SVN issues, Houdini issues, different packaging modes and more. The solution was to add a version number. I'm not sure anyone knows what happened there exactly.
11/1 - ~5 hours total
- ~2.5 hours - Prepared the NPC teleport blueprint. The actual implementation will be a bit different than what I have, but the general functionality is there. Most of the time spent (about 1 hour and 50 minutes) was figuring out what commands needed to be used to achieve the relocation effect we wanted and how to affect items in the game world beyond the blueprint, which led to research on object reference variables and actor types. I knew what I wanted but didn't know what to ask to find it, so I spent too long trying to get a teleport effect from movement nodes when a node for teleporting exists. The test level for this blueprint refused to migrate so it had to be remade and, related to issues described below, it needed to be remade a second time after an SVN update broke my project file.
- ~1 hour - Troubleshooting for an unknown compilation error related to revision 55 in the SVN. Due to something added in that revision claiming to be missing or from another engine version, I couldn’t reopen the project for a while. I joined a Discord call with Daelyn and Terra to inform them about the issue and see if they had any ideas on what to do. Thomas was able to fix the reopening issue on his end, but the following revision had broken movement. A couple issues sprung up for others after that, but I couldn’t find enough information on how to fix the problem to be helpful for those.
- ~1.5 hours - Began work on dialog for Envy. I’m not sure yet what to go for in terms of tone for this character yet, but I’ve made a few lines of dialog for them related to events in their quest and uploaded them to the Discord.
