Terra Marie - Week 6 Devlog
September 26th - October 2nd

September 27th - 1 hour + 20 minutes
As the team worked towards approaching the 25% progress mark, I was tasked with doing the greybox design for area 1 (The Hub) and area 4 (The Playground). I started with the hub, however, this was a shorter session due to some confusion on the overall style. Daelyn and Blaise provided me with great concept art to get me started, but I felt that I needed more details to fully understand the vision. (None of the figure 1 images were created by me. See figure list below for details.)

So, since the direction of each space was still not fully decided, I only greyboxed the maze area of the Hub this day.
October 2nd - 2 hours + 50 minutes
After speaking with my group, I dedicated a few hours to trying to complete the levels. Before our Sunday meeting, I worked on both the hub and area 4, but my main focus was completing the greybox for area 4. This was a challenge because the idea was very vague. Daelyn’s idea for the area was solid, but the difficult part was translating the idea into her design.
Figure 2.1
I re-shaped the boxy map design and made it more dynamic. In regards to the giant white circle in the picture, Daelyn mentioned wanting the area to be broken into two. With one side being in a white void that transitions into the playground. So, my idea was to make the void without walls to remove any sense of space. I began to experiment with what that would look like in a skybox.
Figure 2.2
I imagine with invisible walls to keep the player from falling off the edge and a translucent floor, the illusion of endless space could be created inside this skybox once the material was changed to be all white.
October 2nd - 1 hour
We also had a meeting directly following my work session. Here is where we did group problem solving, story discussion, and I continued grey boxing area 1 while we discussed the game.

By the end of the week, this is all the progress I had made.
